The Sunrise Suite - our 'four poster' suite

The Sunrise has sweeping, unsurpassed views out across Queen Charlotte Sound. The bedroom is furnished with a queen-size, four poster bed used by senior officers of the East India Company stationed in Bengal around 1780. When the weather was too hot they would have the bed carried up onto the roof where it was cooler. When they were trading, the bed was flat-packed and carried up into the hills on the back of an elephant (truly)!
